Lewis Lodge was named after the surveyor who found it in 1956. Many artifacts were left in place but disappeared. I can't imagine what happened. On a nearby plateau I stumbled onto a pottery hotspot. Hundreds of fragments as big as my palm with a ring of rocks at the epicenter. I was still seeing pieces a quarter mile away.
